RW Racing GP presents new 2022 livery
On Thursday 24 February RW Racing GP presented its team and new livery for the 2022 season. The team presentation took place at the Ziggo Sport studio in Hilversum.
RW Racing GP starts a new chapter in 2022. After four seasons, the sole Dutch Grand Prix team returns to Kalex, the chassis manufacturer with which the Dwingeloo-based racing team competed in its first years in the Moto2 class of the MotoGP World Championship.
The team will once again be competing with two riders. Barry Baltus will defend the team colours for the second consecutive season whilst 16-year-old Zonta van den Goorbergh will make his debut within the team as a Grand Prix rider.
On Thursday, the 24th of February, Van den Goorbergh and Baltus revealed the colours of the new 2022 RW Racing GP machine in the Ziggo Sport studio.
Barry Baltus: “We have had a great preseason and now that we have unveiled the new colours I can’t wait to go to Qatar. The team has done a really great job in the last couple of months. It was a lot of work for the guys to get everything ready on time, but I think everything has been done right down to the last detail. Not only did it go well during the test days but the new livery looks great as well. I am looking forward to the season with a lot of confidence and I am convinced that we can make another step forward. I am very confident about it. Let the season begin.”
Zonta van den Goorbergh: “The 2022 season is about to begin and I can’t wait! Joining RW Racing GP as a Moto2 rookie has meant that I’ve worked really hard this winter and will continue to do so throughout the season where I’ll learn more and progress each weekend. We’ve spent a lot of time in Spain this winter getting ready and in the last few weeks I’ve been doing my first laps on the 2022 bike. With the first race next week and the last race in November, I know it will be a long season, but I am looking forward to it! I am confident that we can have a very nice debut season with the great people in the team!”
Jarno Janssen – Team Manager: “We are proud to present our riders and our colours for the upcoming Moto2 season. As a team we are back on track with Kalex bikes after four intensive but fantastic years. With these bikes we think we can offer the best possible package to our riders. It is special to have such a young line-up. Two young guys with a lot of potential.
We have had an intensive winter with seven days of testing. The final test last weekend was the first real test of strength for Zonta on a Moto2 machine and for Barry on his new Kalex.
We tried a lot and did a lot of test kilometres, all in good conditions. Now the team leaves for Qatar next week for the first Grand Prix, a Grand Prix where we will be competing for the points. I want to thank everyone who has worked so hard over the past months to get us where we are now. Let’s go for it!”
This coming week the team heads to Qatar where the Losail International Circuit will host the first Grand Prix of the 21-race season on the weekend of March 4-6.
