I wanted to lead a Dutch team, so that Dutch talents had the opportunity to grow.

As a young man, Roelof Waninge was actively involved in motorsport, including as a technical sports commissioner at the KNMV. As the owner of the Sent Waninge family business, Waninge rented a VIP box on the TT circuit in Assen. In 1993, through his son Sjarno, he became a sponsor of motorcycle racer Jarno Janssen – the current team manager of RW Racing. When Arie Molenaar’s team was in financial difficulties in 2011, Waninge took over the team. That was the beginning of RW Racing GP: RW are the initials of Roelof Waninge. “If I hadn’t done it, nothing would have happened and nothing would have happened. I did it purely for Dutch motorsport: I wanted to keep a Dutch team, so that Dutch talents had the opportunity to grow. I already owned the bikes, I knew the world, I knew what to expect. I started talking to everyone because I wanted the right people there. There is now an experienced team that makes RW Racing a serious and valued player in international motorsport.”
