Motul TT Assen | Barry P15 | Zonta P18

Barry Baltus (P15):
“It was a good day today. We made a big step yesterday in the moments when I was riding alone. In the warm-up I practiced the Long Lap Penalty a few times but in the race I made a mistake. I touched the white line so I had to do the penalty again. Unfortunate but it is what it is. In the end I did a good race with a good pace. I overtook some drivers and finished fifteenth, it’s nice to score a point again before the summer because I didn’t manage to do so in the last three races. I am very happy and want to thank the team for all the work they have done this weekend. We will come back stronger after this break.”

Zonta van den Goorbergh (P18):
“I think we finish our home weekend here in Assen with a good result and with a good feeling. My start of the race was good, then I lost a few places partly because the bike had a false neutral. Then I recovered well, my pace was just good. Unfortunately I was on my own a lot but to cross the finish line ‘only’ twenty-eight seconds behind the winner is just good for me and I am happy with that. We managed to make quite a step forward compared to the previous races. We now have a couple of weeks without races, just recovering from the first half of the season and then preparing fully for part two of 2022.”

Jarno Janssen, RW Racing GP teammanager:
“Super happy with the race of both Barry and also Zonta. Of course it was a pity Barry got a double Long Lap Penalty, otherwise there would have been much more possible than this fifteenth place. But if we look at his race pace and how constant it was, I think we have to be satisfied with that. A great race, good lap times and fighting until the end of the race, that’s how we like to see it. It’s also good for Barry that he can start the five-week summer break with this feeling. Zonta also rode a fantastic race, we can only be super satisfied with that. Zonta had the same pace as Barry for a long time and finished this race eighteenth, ‘only’ 28 seconds behind the winner. Compared to the previous races, that is another big step. We now go into the summer break and get ready for the second half of the season.”
