Baltus and RW Racing GP extend collaboration for two more years in Moto2

Barry Baltus will compete in the Moto2 class of the MotoGP World Championship in 2023 and 2024 again with RW Racing GP. The young Belgian is currently in his second season in the Moto2 class and has made a clear step up from his debut season in 2021. Baltus is currently 20th in the highly competitive championship and has 23 points behind his name. In Portugal, the 18-year-old rider achieved his best result of the season so far with a ninth place.

RW Racing GP will have top equipment next season with Kalex’s 2023 chassis, allowing Baltus to continue his current development. With this new contract there is continuity for both the Dutch team and the Belgian rider and together they will do everything to perform in the best possible way in the Moto2 class.

Barry Baltus:
“I feel very good in the RW Racing GP team, it is the ideal team for me to continue to progress in Moto2. I am looking forward to making further significant progress in the coming seasons and being able to do this with RW Racing GP is a real plus. I would like to thank Jarno Janssen and Roelof Waninge for their trust and the whole team for their efforts and guidance, they helped me a lot to improve. I would also like to thank Zelos and its partners for making this agreement possible and for giving me the chance to continue to grow in the Moto2 class. For sure, today I am a super happy and motivated rider!”

BARRY HOSPITALITY

Freddy Tacheny – Zelos founder:
“By continuing to work with RW Racing GP, we are choosing to build on stability. The team is both ambitious and family oriented, which fits well with the youth of our rider Barry Baltus. Both parties wanted to continue the collaboration, firstly because of the good human connection, but also because of the excellent technical package that is offered. This includes the Kalex 2023 chassis as well as the support in terms of engineers and mechanics, which is completely in line with Barry’s growth ambition in Moto2. Both sides have decided to work together for two more seasons with confidence, because we share exactly the same ambitions.”

BARRY CLOSE

Jarno Janssen – RW Racing GP team manager:
We are pleased to announce that Barry will be with RW Racing GP for 2 more years. Barry has shown his potential and determination over the past 2 years, this is something that fits perfectly within our structure. Because he is still only 18 years old, we cannot forget that Barry is still in an early stage to become a top rider. We are proud to be part of this journey with him. I would like to thank Zelos and particularly Freddy Tacheny for giving us the opportunity to continue the work that we have done over the last 2 years. From a team point of view it gives us stability to continue working with Barry and Zonta next year. It is going to be a year where we are aiming to improve in all areas of our structure in order to make the next step.”

By announcing Barry Baltus, the rider line-up for RW Racing GP will be concluded with Zonta van den Goorbergh. The young Dutch rider will go into his second Moto2 season with RW Racing GP next year.
