During the eighth GP of 2021 at the Sachsenring in Germany, there was still joy within the NTS RW team. Under the watchful eye of team owner Roelof Waninge, two more World Cup points were achieved after two training days with disappointing performances from both drivers. And this time it happened with a first: for the Belgian Barry Baltus it was the very first time that he finished with a P14 in the points! Besides the driver himself, manager Jarno Janssen was of course also very happy. The grapes were sour for Hafizh Syahrin because he was just outside the points with a seventeenth place.

Hafizh was very disappointed: “We really expected to get one or more points here at the Sachsenring. But I couldn’t exploit the full potential of the NTS here anyway. In Mugello it was much better but this track is shorter and also more compact which made it more difficult for me and my crew to find the right set-up. For next weekend we will do everything we can to improve because the TT in Assen is very important for the team.”

Belgian Barry Baltus was obviously a lot more satisfied: “It was a very strange weekend because it was so difficult on Friday and Saturday. Fortunately today in the race it went a lot better. I had a good start and immediately passed a number of riders. Because I felt strong I also had less trouble with the 25 laps. It is very nice to have these two points in the pocket. That’s why I’m going to the next race with full confidence. Finally, I would like to thank my team because it is thanks to them that I have been able to achieve this result.”

After these mostly positive noises, the team is now heading for the home race in Assen. Already next Sunday, June 27, the Dutch TT is on the program with the race on Sunday at 12:20 pm (GMT +2).
