Time for RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP to take on Texas
This upcoming weekend marks the third Grand Prix of 2025 at the Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas. This challenging circuit is considered one of the most spectacular on the Grand Prix calendar, along with the various activities surrounding the race weekend. For Zonta van den Goorbergh and Ayumu Sasaki the goal is to continue working on their speed, as they have in the previous two Grand Prix weekends.
The Circuit of The Americas is 5.5 kilometers long and features a straight of no less than 1.2 kilometers. There are nine right-hand corners and eleven left-hand corners, with the numerous direction changes in the first sector being particularly challenging for the riders. Additionally, the track surface is not always smooth, with significant bumps that can create tricky moments.
Both Zonta van den Goorbergh and Ayumu Sasaki have yet to score World Championship points after two races, despite showing clear speed. Both the team and the riders are determined to achieve a strong result this weekend and prove where they belong in the Moto2 class.
Zonta van den Goorbergh:
“The American Grand Prix remains one of those special weekends on the calendar, partly because we only have one GP on that continent. I’m looking forward to heading there and getting to work. We need to build on what we were doing in Argentina, where things went well except for the race. Hopefully, we can put that behind us and start this race weekend with a fresh approach.”Ayumu Sasaki:
“I’m excited to ride in Austin this weekend. Last year I had to miss that weekend as I was injured, so I’m looking forward to ride the Moto2 bike there for the first time. It’s a very technical track but one that I like, so I cannot wait to be there. Our target will be to keep improving and score our first points.”Jarno Janssen – RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP team manager:
“The Circuit of The Americas remains a unique track. It is highly technical and also very demanding for the riders. In the past we have had mixed results there, and it certainly won’t be an easy challenge. We need to take all the positives from the last two Grand Prix weekends and build on them. The weather conditions appear to be stable, so we are looking forward to the third race weekend of the year.”
The race weekend at the Circuit of The Americas begins with the first free practice session on Friday morning, followed by the official practice session in the afternoon, where the top 14 riders will secure direct entry into Q2. After a second free practice session on Saturday morning, qualifying will begin at 13:45 local time (19:45 Central European time) in the afternoon. The 21-lap race is set to start on Sunday afternoon at 12:15 local time (19:15 CET).
Note: In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the clock will be set forward by one hour due to the start of daylight-saving time.
