RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP returns to Brno after five years as 2025 season reaches halfway point
This weekend marks the twelfth Grand Prix of the 2025 season, held at the Automotodrom Brno in the Czech Republic. It’s the first time since 2020 that the historic and highly impressive Brno circuit returns to the Grand Prix calendar, making the entire RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP team excited to be back at the Czech track.
With eleven Grand Prix weekends completed and eleven still to go, the 2025 season has now officially reached its halfway point. The Automotodrom Brno is 5.4 kilometers long and features fourteen corners — eight right-handers and six left-handers. The track is known for its many chicanes, elevation changes, and its remarkable width of no less than 15 meters. It’s one of the classic circuits that has certainly been missed on the calendar in recent years.
Just a few days ago, racing took place at the Sachsenring, where Ayumu Sasaki achieved the best Moto2 result of his career by finishing ninth on Sunday afternoon. The Japanese rider was competitive all weekend and will aim to continue that momentum in Brno, where he has raced before. Zonta van den Goorbergh had a more difficult weekend in Germany and has never ridden at Brno before, which might make the start of the weekend a bit more challenging for him.
Zonta van den Goorbergh:
“Having just returned from the Sachsenring, we’re already heading off for the next Grand Prix. Brno is new for me, but it looks like a really fun circuit — I hear everyone speak very positively about it. It’s a big and quite wide track, which usually suits me well. I’m looking forward to getting the weekend underway. It’s the final Grand Prix before the summer break, so our goal is to head into the break with a good feeling after Sunday’s race.”Ayumu Sasaki:
“I am very excited to go to Brno. I haven’t been there for a while, so I am very much looking forward to ride there again. It’s a beautiful track and I have good memories there, it’s a very enjoyable track to ride and I think it suits my riding style. We need to continue what we have been doing last weekend and continue to improve. Let’s try to have a good weekend and hopefully score some more points again before the summer break.”Jarno Janssen – RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP team manager:
“We had a strong weekend at the Sachsenring, particularly thanks to Ayumu’s result. It was his first top ten and his best Moto2 result so far, so that shows we need to remain patient and keep working the same way. This weekend we’re off to Brno, a beautiful track that we haven’t visited in recent years. It has been resurfaced and everything looks fantastic, so I expect a great weekend. Ayumu has ridden there before but for Zonta it’s a new circuit, so we need to make sure we’re well-prepared right from Friday.”
