RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP raring to go at magnificent Mugello
This weekend marks the ninth Grand Prix of the 2025 season, taking place at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello. The Italian circuit is one of the most iconic on the MotoGP calendar, known for its layout and breathtaking surroundings. For Zonta van den Goorbergh and Ayumu Sasaki, it will be important to deliver a solid performance as a lead-up to the Dutch TT, RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP’s home race.
The 5.2-kilometre-long Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello, located in the heart of Tuscany near Florence, is famous for its flowing corners, significant elevation changes, and one of the longest straights on the calendar – where the highest top speed of the season is typically recorded.
The surroundings also add to the unique atmosphere of the race weekend. Mugello is nestled in Tuscany’s lush, hilly landscape and is just a short distance from historic cities like Florence and Siena. For many teams and fans, it is one of the most cherished locations on the calendar. Not just because of the circuit itself, but also thanks to the Italian cuisine, culture, and the passionate motorsport fans who attend the event in large numbers each year.
Zonta van den Goorbergh:
“After a good weekend in Aragón, I’m looking forward to getting started again at Mugello. We’ve had another week to prepare, and it’s going to be a very hot weekend. But that was already the case in Aragón, so the conditions should be quite similar. I’m curious to see what we’re capable of on a circuit that is quite different from what we’ve had over the past few races.”Ayumu Sasaki:
“I am excited to go to Mugello, as it is such a wonderful track. We had a pretty decent race in Aragón last time out, except for the crash at the end. I am looking forward to keep working and continue improving ourselves. Hopefully we can achieve our best result of the year there.”Jarno Janssen – RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP team manager:
“It’s always great to go to Mugello. The circuit is very challenging and one of the most beautiful on the calendar. On top of that, the surroundings are stunning, making it a truly unique place to visit. We need to make sure that both riders maintain the upward trend, build on what went well in Aragón, and work on what didn’t. This weekend we’ll be welcoming many guests, including our title sponsor and other Italian partners, so I’m looking forward to a sunny, warm, and hopefully also successful weekend at Mugello.”
The race weekend at the Autodromo Internazionale del Mugello kicks off with the first free practice on Friday morning, followed by the official practice session at 14:05 in the afternoon, which will determine the fourteen riders who qualify directly for Q2. After a second free practice on Saturday morning, qualifying will begin at 13:45 to determine the starting grid for Sunday’s race. The 19-lap race is scheduled to start at 12:15 on Sunday.
