Javi Martinez and Johan Stigefelt join RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP management

RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP has reached an agreement with Javi Martinez as Team Principial and Johan Stigefelt as Team Advisor. With this, the Spaniard and the Swede join the management of the only Dutch Grand Prix team, which has recently come under the leadership of the second generation of the Waninge family from Dwingeloo, following the withdrawal of Roelof Waninge.

Recently, it was announced that after fourteen years, Roelof Waninge has transferred ownership of RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP to his son Sjarno [Waninge] and daughter Joyce [Van der Koogh]. Since then, significant work has gone into building a new management structure, resulting in the appointment of 39-year-old Spaniard Javi Martínez as the new Team Principial, while former Grand Prix rider and MotoGP Team Director Johan Stigefelt will take on an important role as Team Advisor.

With the arrival of Martínez, the team also establishes a direct pathway to the World Championship through the Finetwork XTI Mir Racing Team, which competes in the JuniorGP series and of which Martínez is co-owner.

Sjarno Waninge, Team Owner: “In recent weeks, we have worked hard to build a new management structure for our team. With the help of Johan Stigefelt — a long-time family friend — we’ve created an organisation that we believe can help the team take a big step forward in the coming years and become a stable presence within the MotoGP World Championship. The appointment of Javi [Martínez] as our new team manager, the support of Johan [Stigefelt] as an experienced advisor, and the continued commitment of many of our loyal partners give us confidence for the future. We are especially proud to maintain our Dutch identity and to strengthen our collaboration with the JuniorGP project.”

Javi Martínez, Team Principial: “I want to express my deepest gratitude to the Waninge family and to Johan Stigefelt for trusting me to lead this project as team manager. In this new phase, we will work closely together to build a stronger and more strategic structure, creating a direct route to the World Championship through the JuniorGP with our Finetwork XTI Mir Racing Team, in full synergy with RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP in the Moto2 class of the MotoGP World Championship. Our goal is to lay the foundation for a global, competitive, and sustainable project that can grow into a leading reference within the international paddock.”

Currently, the final steps are being taken to secure the riders for the 2026 season. RW-Idrofoglia Racing GP will announce its rider line-up for the coming season very soon.
